L’Équipe report this evening that Lens and Leipzig have reached an agreement over the transfer of Belgian international striker Loïs Openda, who is now due to undergo his medical in Germany this coming Friday.
The French outlet had indicated this morning that the Sang et Or were holding out for a fee closer to the €50m mark including potential bonuses for the forward.
After today’s round of negotations, the two clubs have agreed on a base fee of between €43m and €46m, along with add-ons worth €6m, a future friendly match between the two clubs, and a percentage of the player’s future transfer fee.
Openda scored 21 goals this past season – only one of them a penalty – as he spearheaded a Lens side that finished just one point behind eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1. He will now move on for close to five times the fee he was brought in for last summer from Club Brugge.
