According to Foot Mercato, RB Leipzig are set to re-open negotiations with OL and submit a new bid for Castello Lukeba. The Red Bull club are waiting to formally sell Joško Gvardiol to Manchester City, who have reportedly agreed a deal for the Croatian, before submitting a new bid for the French U21 international.
Leipzig have already submitted an opening offer for the Lyon academy graduate worth a reported €26m. This bid was immediately rebuffed by Les Gones, as they look to keep Lukeba at the club for at least one more season. A bid which reaches what Laurent Blanc describes as an “impressive level“, could change everything though. OL are thought to have set a price tag of €35m for their defender.
Lukeba is currently absent from OL’s pre-season preparations due to his participation in the U21 Euros and is training by himself in the South of France. He is expected to join up with Laurent Blanc’s squad on the 24th of July, but with a new bid from Leipzig on the horizon, no one knows what the long-term future for the 20-year-old centre back holds.
