Despite a late swoop from Manchester United, the deal to send RB Leipzig forward Brian Brobbey back to Ajax on a permanent basis is almost through. According to Phillip Hinze of Sky Germany, the Dutch outfit is actually prepared to fork over €20 million for the 20-year-old. If true, this vastly exceeds even Leipzig’s original asking price.
The German Red Bulls look set to come out huge winners in the forthcoming transaction. RB picked up the youngster on a free in March of 2021. Brobbey logged just 252 minutes for the Saxons in 13 (mostly relief) appearances during the first half of the 2021/22 campaign. After being loaned back to Ajax last January, he scored 8 goals in 14 appearances, in the process boosting his market value to €9 million.
