After two years spent at K.V. Oostende and a season at Arminia Bielefeld, 22-year-old German central defender Frederik Jäkel has been loaned out by his top-tier German side once again. The German youth international will represent “Saarland sensations” SV Elversberg 07 in the German second division during the current season. Jäkel made 22 appearances for Bielefeld in the 2. Bundesliga last year.
Jäkel has represented Germany at various youth levels 14 times. He’s been called up to the Germany U21s, but has yet to be capped. He also hasn’t made a senior team appearance for his parent club yet, at which he remains under contract through the end of the 2024/25 campaign. He is still regarded as a solid developmental prospect.
“Frederik brings great potential with him,” Elversber sporting director Ole Brook remarked in a statement accompanying the transaction, “he has already developed very strongly as a defensive talent in recent years. As a tall, robust and fast central defender, he will be an asset to our team.”
“I’m very excited about my upcoming time in Elversberg,” the player himself added, “SVE is an exciting promoted team and the right environment for me to develop personally as well.”
