Leicester defeat could ‘provoke quicker change’ over Rodgers at King Power

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has been given ‘three games’ to save his job, but that could all change if his side are defeated by Nottingham Forest at the King Power Stadium on Monday, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

The Foxes are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season and, ahead of facing fellow strugglers Forest in a Midlands derby, are five points adrift of safety.

What’s the latest news involving Rodgers?

It is understood that Rodgers is on extremely thin ice and the vast majority of supporters expected him to have been sacked by now, but Leicester intend to give him a little more time to turn things around.

The Foxes have not been in action since a 6-2 thumping at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur, which led to Rodgers admitting that he is under increasing pressure and he would respect the owners’ decision if he were to be axed.

Respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed the Leicester hierarchy were set to discuss the Northern Irishman’s future following the heavy loss, but chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha opted against wielding the axe.

The 49-year-old would reportedly be entitled to a compensation package worth £10million if he is sacked.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth recently told GIVEMESPORT that Leicester’s financial issues have kept Rodgers in the job.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Rodgers?

Jacobs understands that Rodgers has the next three fixtures – against Forest, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace – to save his job.

However, the journalist believes a negative result on Monday could result in Srivaddhanaprabha reacting by showing the former Liverpool and Celtic chief the door.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “Of course, the way football works is if you tell Rodgers he’s got three games but he loses to Nottingham Forest in the first one of them, that may provoke a change quicker than expected.

“But, at the moment, he’s been told that it is those three games, collectively, that will be the determination as to whether he stays or goes.”

Who is in the running to replace Rodgers if he is sacked?

According to The Sun, Brentford boss Thomas Frank is at the top of the the list of potential replacements for Rodgers.

However, Leicester may find it difficult to tempt the Dane away from the capital as the report suggests he is in no rush to leave the Bees after penning a new three-year contract in January.

Sean Dyche is also understood to be in the running having been out of work since being dismissed by Burnley in April.
