Leeds United could allow Llorente to leave permanently if Roma make €15m offer

Diego Llorente struggled for game time at Leeds United during the first half of the 2022-23 season. 

The 29-year-old made a solid start to the season as he played all the first six Premier League matches under Jesse Marsch, who has now departed Elland Road. 

But things quickly went downhill as the American boss regularly kept him out of the starting XI. 

Llorente was then allowed to join Roma on loan for the remainder of the campaign. 

Opportunities were limited for the Spain international in the beginning but it looks like he has now gained the trust of his manager Jose Mourinho. 

The Portuguese boss has featured the 29-year-old in La Lupa’s last four Serie A matches, including their 3-0 home win over Udinese at the weekend. 

According to Il Romanista, Roma are keen to make Llorente’s loan move permanent. This wasn’t the case initially when the player was mostly warming the bench.  

His loan deal includes the option to make the move permanent for €18m. However, Leeds could be willing to accept around €15m. 

The Spanish player has also publicly expressed his desire to extend his stay at the Stadio Olimpico, and that’s understandable considering he struggled for minutes at Elland Road. 

Leeds spent €18m to sign Llorente from Real Sociedad in 2020. The Whites would be very happy if they could recoup that fee by selling him to Roma.
