Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich’s time at Elland Road could be coming to an end with a potential move to DC United having the “legs to get over the line”, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.
The 32-year-old has been with the Whites since 2017, but his time under the management of head coach Jesse Marsch may now be up.

Leeds transfer news – Mateusz Klich
When The Athletic’s Phil Hay asked about Klich’s future at the club on Friday evening, Leeds assistant manager René Marić responded with: “I’m the wrong person to ask that question. There is nothing decided in either direction.”
The same journalist has suggested that having featured in so few minutes this season, the midfielder would like to play more, with an opportunity of a move to the MLS potentially giving him the platform to do just that.
According to MLS Soccer, DC United are in advanced negotiations to bring the 41-time Poland international to the United States.
The same publication says that the deal isn’t completely over the line and it is not 100% certain that it will be completed, with Marsch saying that discussions over the Whites star’s future should be put on hold until anything concrete happens.
Jones has previously suggested to GiveMeSport that Klich could leave Elland Road in January after being left annoyed about his lack of playing time this season, and now believes that a move to DC United could happen.
What has Jones said about Leeds and Klich?
Jones told GiveMeSport: “There’s big potential around this one. It’s not done yet, but a lot of the details are now known between the parties and I think it does have the legs to get over the line if they continue to show the will.”
Has Klich been a good player for Leeds?
Should Klich leave Elland Road next month, he will be able to look back at his time in Yorkshire with fond memories, with his finest moment likely being playing a part in the club’s Championship title-winning campaign of 2019/20, earning the Whites a desired promotion to the Premier League.
The midfielder has played 192 games for the Whites, scoring 24 goals and providing 21 assists in that time according to Transfermarkt, suggesting he has been a reliable source of goals during his time at the club. However, having played a total of just 368 minutes across both the Premier League and Carabao Cup this season, Klich may now feel that his best chance of regular football will be served away from Elland Road and therefore a departure in the new year may be enforced.
