Former American youth international midfielder Richy Ledezma has received his Mexican passport, clearing the way for him to sign with Chivas, sources tell GIVEMESPORT.
The deal is all agreed for Ledezma to join on a free transfer this summer when his contract with PSV expires, as first reported by CL Merlo. Chivas have a policy to only sign players with Mexican citizenship.
The passport also opens the possibility for Ledezma to play for the Mexican national team. Ledezma was left off the USMNT’s Gold Cup roster this summer and has had contact with the Mexican federation this spring.
Ledezma, 24, has one senior appearance with the USMNT. He was a prominent youth international but injuries slowed his development before a breakout 2024-25 season, where the central midfielder spent a lot of time excelling at right back.
PSV won the Eredivisie as Ledezma made 24 league appearances plus another 11 in the Champions League. It is easily the most he’s played for PSV since joining their U-21 team from Real Salt Lake’s academy in 2019.
Chivas missed the playoffs in Mexico’s Clausura playoffs after finishing 11th this spring.
