L’Équipe are reporting that Laurent Blanc’s job as the manager of Olympique Lyonnais is “in danger” with the new American management of the club not completely convinced by the Frenchman.
After taking over from Peter Bosz in October, Blanc has overseen a revival at Les Gones during the second half of the season. Lyon have won five out of their last six Ligue 1 games, which gives them an unlikely shot at European football next season. They are just three points behind fifth-placed Lille OSC.
However, should Blanc pull off the feat, he may not preside over their European campaign. It is all change at the club with the departure of President Jean-Michel Aulas, and the new American ownership, headed by John Textor, aren’t completely convinced by Blanc.
According to L’Équipe, the Americans “aren’t big fans” of Blanc, who is under contract until 2024. Sporting Director Bruno Cheyrou is set to depart, whilst Vincent Ponsot is also set to leave, and Textor will allow their new senior management team decide whether to keep Blanc. The French publication adds that the tendency is towards Blanc’s departure this summer.
