Latest reports suggest Liverpool could listen to offers for Darwin Nunez this summer

Liverpool could reportedly listen to offers for Darwin Nunez in the summer transfer window.

According to The Sun, Barcelona are preparing a shock move for the 24-year-old to replace superstar Robert Lewandowski.

The Catalans will look to offload their highest wage earners amidst their ongoing financial troubles.

Lewandowski, who arrived at Camp Nou in 2022 and has remained one of their highest earners, will likely be moved on to ensure the club comply with a £175 million salary cap imposed by La Liga.

The Spanish giants are planning to sign Nunez as he is on about a quarter of the Polish star’s money.

With several players set to depart this summer, Barca will likely be able to meet Liverpool’s asking price for the 24-year-old.

The Reds are said to be very reluctant to let the Uruguayan leave who has a contract at Anfield until 2028.

But they are also aware of handing incoming manager Arne Slot a decent transfer budget.

If Mohamed Salah leaves to join Saudi Arabia at the end of the season, they may not have to sell.

But if there is no offer from the Middle East, the Merseyside giants could listen to Barcelona’s offer for Nunez.

The former Benfica star has registered 11 goals in 33 Premier League appearances this campaign but he has also missed several big chances and is currently on a seven-game goalless run.
