The La Liga brass have knocked back a request on the part of champions Barcelona, regarding their upcoming meeting with Valencia.
This comes after the Blaugrana, alongside their Los Che counterparts, attempted to have the clash moved to the latter’s home ground, the Mestalla.
The fixture was originally pencilled in to be played in Barcelona, but the delay in the construction works at the Spotify Camp Nou forced the Catalans to look into alternative venues.
Joan Laporta and co. therefore proposed the possibility of changing the match to an away one, to be played at Mestalla.
However, as confirmed by Diario Sport:
‘As reported by Isaac Fouto, LaLiga has decided not to reverse the order of the calendar so that the fourth matchday will be played at Mestalla. LaLiga argues that it is forbidden to change the order of the calendar.’
As much means that, as things stand, it is completely unknown where the clash will be played out.
