Kylian Mbappé on PSG future: “It’s not something that weighs on me.”

France captain Kylian Mbappé (24) appeared in front of the press for the first time since 15th June, and was asked several times about his future at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Bondy native revealed little on his intention to extend or not with the Parisian club, but indicated that it isn’t something which is currently affecting his performances for club and country. The following was transcribed live by Get French Football News.

Mbappé evasive, but at ease with future PSG decision

“It’s not something that concerns the French national team,” began the France captain in an evasive manner. “You should come to Campus PSG and I’ll respond, the focus is on country above anything else for the next week.”

“It’s not something that weighs on me,” admitted the 2018 World Cup winner. “I don’t think about it on the pitch, when I’m playing I don’t think about things outside the game.”

The Frenchman sent a letter to PSG last summer stating he had no intention to extend his PSG contract, which currently expires in June 2024. Currently PSG still reportedly want to extend the striker’s contract, with Mbappé’s future remaining in his own hands. This comes in the same week that he reached an agreement with the club from the French capital to forgo around €80m worth of bonuses.
