Kylian Mbappé (24) has reiterated his desire to remain at Paris Saint-Germain, in line with the wishes of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

Mbappé’s PSG future has been thrown into doubt after he sent a letter to the club, informing them of his decision to not trigger the one-year extension. The letter has left PSG with a decision: sell Mbappé this summer or risk losing him for free at the end of next season.

As reported by Foot Mercato earlier on Thursday, Nasser Al Khelaifi and the rest of the club’s management have decided to sell the France captain. That, however, isn’t the wish of Mbappé, who during Thursday’s press conference, expressed a desire to remain with Les Parisiens and see out the final year of his contract.

That is also the wish of Macron, who was questioned about Mbappé’s future on Wednesday. The French President said he would “try to push for Mbappé to stay.” Speaking in a pre-match press conference, ahead of Friday’s European Championship qualifier against Gibraltar, Mbappé addressed Macron’s comments.

He wants me to stay [at PSG], and my objective is to stay, so we’re on the same wavelength,” said the France captain in a press conference, transcribed by RMC Sport. Whether Mbappé and Macron will get their way, only time will tell.
