Kobe Bryant Named His All-Time Favourite NBA Teammate

Kobe Bryant was blessed to have played with some legendary basketball talents during his 20-year career in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers. Early on in his stint with the California-based franchise, he got to team up with Shaquille O’Neal and the two helped create one of the most dominant duos in the history of the association. They won three NBA titles in a row together and are easily the best players that either one ever joined forces with.

After his time with Diesel came to an end, he got to team up with another legendary big man in the form of Pau Gasol. With the Spaniard, he won a pair of championships in 2009 and 2010 and they spent six years together in total. Shaq and Gasol complimented Bryant perfectly and they created magic together.

They weren’t the only top stars he played alongside over the years, but they were undoubtedly the best. With that said, neither man was Kobe’s favourite teammate. In quotes shared via Bleacher Report, he actually revealed that there was someone else on the Lakers during his career that he enjoyed playing with more than anyone else.

Kobe Bryant’s Favourite Ever NBA Teammate

Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher

While Shaq and Gasol were undeniably Bryant’s greatest ever teammates, his favourite, according to Black Mamba himself, was Derek Fisher. The two played together in Los Angeles for eight years at the start of their careers and were even in the same draft together. Fisher left in 2004, but not before having a lasting impact on Kobe, who revealed he was his favourite teammate ever. In quotes shared via Basketball Network, the former shooting guard said:

“I’d say, Derek Fisher. Just because he has the attitude of a champion. That stuff is really hard to find; a person that has that kind of grit and that togetherness and that makes no excuses, gets it done by any means necessary. He’s been my favorite teammate of all time.”

That’s not the first time he’s publicly praised Fisher and named him his favourite ever teammate. During his career, he spoke about the former point guard, who he shared the backcourt with in LA and, as quoted by Bleacher Reports, he said: “My all time favorite teammate has always been Derek Fisher. He’s been my favorite teammate, I would love to see him back in a Lakers uniform so we could kind of finish out together.”
