Karim Benzema will miss Real Madrid’s match against Barcelona in Las Vegas on July 23, according to AS.
The French striker has been given extra time off by Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti and Benzema have agreed that the Frenchman can join up with the Madrid squad in Los Angeles on 19 July.
Benzema’s late arrival in the US means he will only have three days of training under his belt before El Clásico. For this reason, Ancelotti has decided against giving him game time in Las Vegas.
After facing Xavi’s Barça, Madrid will take on Mexican giants Club América in San Francisco on 26 July and Juventus in Pasadena three days later as they prepare for the 2022-23 season.
