After a difficult first season at Bayern München, Marcel Sabitzer has made a strong start to the 2022/23 campaign, playing from the start in each of the German champions’ three competitive games so far this season.
In an interview with Kicker, the Austrian international has been backed by Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn, with the former goalkeeper pointing out that he needed a while to find his feet at Säbener Straße himself back in the 1990’s.
“At FC Bayern, you’re always very quick to condemn players or write them off after one season,” Kahn said.
“The best example is actually myself. I also needed one or two seasons here at Bayern München, but back then you had more time,” added Kahn, who made 630 appearances for Bayern following his move from Karlsruher SC in 1994.
“Marcel is putting in solid performances at the moment, you can only congratulate him.”
