Inter Milan’s drawn-out pursuit of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku could end up in vain as Juventus are looking to hijack the deal.
The Nerazzurri have been locked in continuous negotiations with the Premier League club to broker a deal for the Belgian striker, who spent the last two seasons on loan with Inter.
After several rejections, Inter have come up with an offer worth €40 million, close to Chelsea’s valuation, but they now face a hurdle in the form of Juve.
As reported by Sky Sport Italia, the Bianconeri have also approached Chelsea for Lukaku, tabling a similar offer (€37.5m plus €2.5m in bonuses) as Inter.
The former Manchester United man was thought to be prioritising a move to San Siro, however, he is now having second thoughts after holding talks with Juve.
Inter have been left disappointed with the antics of Lukaku, and they feel that he is leaning towards a move to Turin.
However, the Old Lady will only proceed with the deal if Dusan Vlahovic leaves this summer. The Serbian striker is a priority target for Paris Saint-Germain.
The report adds that Inter would not hesitate to abandon the pursuit of Lukaku, meaning they may have to reassess the options for a striker in the transfer market.
The Nerazzurri are on the verge of selling Andre Onana to Manchester United, who have reportedly struck a full agreement worth €55m.
Inzaghi’s men have already sealed the signings of Marcus Thuram, Davide Frattesi and Yann Bisseck this summer.
They will next turn their attention towards goalkeeper reinforcements, with Yann Sommer and Anatoliy Trubin lined up as top targets.
