Juventus play down Paul Pogba exit talks

Juventus have reportedly denied speculation linking them with terminating the contract of the injury-plagued star Paul Pogba.

Talks of the Bianconeri considering cutting ties with the French midfielder less than a year since bringing him back from Manchester United have recently hit the headlines.

Pogba has failed to register a single minute in the Juventus shirt since rejoining the club in the summer due to multiple injury setbacks, casting doubt on his long-term future in Turin.

However, as per Fabrizio Romano, the record-time Italian champions are adamant the 29-year-old remains a significant part of their plans for the future despite his recurring fitness problems.

Juventus were hopeful of having Pogba back for a mouth-watering trip to Napoli at the beginning of January, but the ex-Man Utd underachiever was on the sidelines as the Bianconeri suffered a thumping 5-1 defeat.

Massimiliano Allegri was then sure of welcoming the France international back to the fold against Monza, yet despite making the bench, the midfielder never entered the pitch.

Only days following another humiliating 2-0 home loss to the Serie A debutants, Pogba picked up another injury, with a muscle strain extending his lengthy spell in the treatment room.

The 2018 World Cup winner cannot recover soon enough as far as Juventus’ European hopes are concerned.

Following a 15-point deduction in mid-January, they now face an uphill task to roar back into the top-six race, with sixth-placed AC Milan boasting a sizeable 15-point lead.
