Replacing Cristiano Ronaldo is never easy, but Juventus think they know the perfect player to bring in who can do exactly that.
Despite no longer having Ronaldo in their squad, the Old Lady, led by Thiago Motta, are enjoying an excellent start to the season.
The Turin giants, who sit just one point behind leaders Napoli, are not only unbeaten in their first six Serie A games, but they’ve yet to concede a single goal. But Motta wants more.
The 42-year-old Italian is looking to bolster his options next summer and has identified one of Europe’s most in-demand forwards as his top target.
Juventus join Barcelona in race to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao
According to Fichajes, Juventus have expressed an interest in signing Athletic Bilbao and Spain winger Nico Williams.
Despite recently turning down the chance to join Barcelona in favour of staying with his boyhood for at least one more season, the 22-year-old remains top of Hansi Flick’s shortlist with German expected to try for his signature again next summer.
For now, Barcelona’s focus is on extending Lamine Yamal’s contract. Should the 17-year-old reach an agreement, the Catalan giants will be able to offer Williams the chance to link up, domestically, with his close compatriot.
However, with Juventus also entering the mix, Williams’ future, not just at Bilbao, but also in Spain, has been thrown further into doubt.
The Old Lady hope to tempt Spain’s Euros 2024 final hero with the chance of becoming the true heir to Ronaldo’s throne and allow him to lead the club in their new era under Motta — an exciting prospect for any player with ambitions of becoming one of the very best.
