Serie A giants Juventus are pursuing a January transfer move for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to Sky Italia.
With the January transfer window fast approaching, the Bianconeri are determined to bolster their midfield options, especially following the absence of both Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli.
Fagioli has been banned from football activities for the next seven months for his involvement in a betting scandal ravaging Italian football.
Also, Pogba is facing the possibility of a lengthy ban after testing positive for a banned substance.
Sporting director for Juventus Cristiano Guintoli is already hard at work, exploring potential options to reinforce the team’s midfield during the winter transfer window as they are light in the centre.
They are exploring Premier League possibilities with their shortlist, including Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Arsenal’s Thomas Partey.
However, they have added Phillips to their list of targets.
Phillips has been on the periphery of Manchester City’s squad since he arrived in the 2022 summer transfer window from Leeds United.
With Rodri firmly ahead of him in City manager Pep Guardiolas’s pecking order, the England international could look for a move away.
This situation makes him an attractive proposition for Juventus, who are keen to strengthen their midfield.
The question remains whether Guardiola would be open to Phillips leaving mid-season. Juventus are reportedly considering an initial loan arrangement with an option to make the move permanent.
Juventus have been interested in Partey for a while, but concerns about his injury history have caused the Bianconeri to evaluate their options carefully. The Ghanaian has been battling niggling injuries throughout his time in England.

As for Hojbjerg, Tottenham’s asking price is an obstacle.
Juventus now have Phillips on their radar, but negotiations and discussions with City will likely determine whether this move comes to fruition.
