After Rouven Schröder’s departure from RB Salzburg to become Borussia Mönchengladbach’s new sporting director, Jürgen Klopp must now find a replacement for the Austrian Bundesliga club.
As reported by Bild, Klopp is targeting Hoffenheim’s Andreas Schicker as a replacement. The 39-year-old, who joined the Bundesliga club from Sturm Graz in October 2024, has reportedly been in discussions with RB Salzburg for a long time, with his current employers also informed of the situation.
Schicker has already met with Klopp and is well-respected in his country of birth. According to Bild, the Austrian is considering the move, partly due to the internal power struggle and unrest at TSG.
The relationship between majority owner Dietmar Hopp and the club’s management is a strained one, reports Bild. Schicker played a key role in the banning of agent Roger Wittmann and former youth director Dirk Mack, which drew criticism from Hopp.
