Speaking ahead of Bayern Munich’s game against RB Leipzig, Julian Nagelsmann discussed the personnel situation and the importance of Friday night’s game.
“It’s an important game,” said Nagelsmann. “Leipzig is one of our main competitors. They’ve been very good since Marco Rose took over. The game isn’t decisive, but it would be good to have a nine point lead.”
Giving an update on the squad, Nagelsmann said that Leon Goretzka, who’s returning from injury, still feels something “minimal” but could still feature against Leipzig, whilst both Matthijs de Ligt and Kingsley Coman are available.
Nagelsmann stated that he’s already decided on who will start in six of the 11 positions, but wouldn’t reveal whether Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (33) is amongst the players that will start. The Cameroonian has scored six and created two in 10 Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich this season.
Thomas Müller, who can operate in various positions, also received praise from Nagelsmann. And with Manuel Neuer sidelined for the remainder of the season, Sven Ulreich will start in goal as Hasan Salihamidžić, Marco Neppe and Co. work on a deal to bring Yann Sommer to Bavaria this month.
Six points currently separate leaders Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig (3rd).
