Julen Lopetegui is said to be considering his position as Wolverhampton Wanderers boss over lack of transfer activity this summer.
The 56-year-old took over the club as manager in November when they were mired in relegation.
The Spanish manager inspired them to an upturn in form, guiding them to victories over the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
And the Wanderers ultimately secured a very respectable 13th-place finish, with seven points separating them from the drop zone.
However, Lopetegui is now considering his future at the Molineux Stadium and could leave with less than two weeks remaining before the new season starts, per the Mirror.
It is said that he is unsatisfied with the club’s transfer business this summer.
Wolves have already sold established talents like Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez and Nathan Collins to Al-Hilal, Fulham and Brentford respectively without signing replacements for them.
And apart from making Matheus Cunha and Boubacar Traore deals permanent, they have only brought in Matt Doherty and Tom King during the 2023 transfer window so far.
The Wanderers are also likely to miss out on their top target and Bristol City youngster Alex Scott who looks close to joining Bournemouth.
The Midlands outfit will begin their Premier League campaign on August 14 when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford.
They will also have to face Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool in their first five league matches.
Lopetegui reportedly believes their squad isn’t strong enough to compete in the English top-flight for the 2023-24 season.
