Up-and-coming talents at Real Madrid and Barcelona have, on Friday, seen their respective abilities recognised by way of the prestigious Golden Boy awards.
For those not familiar with the Golden Boy format, it is an annual award ceremony, hosted by Italian outlet Tuttosport.
The process has been running since 2003, in an effort to highlight the finest young players across world football.
Previous winners of the headline Golden Boy prize include the likes of Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, and Kylian Mbappé.
Recent years had been dominated by Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, with midfield duo Pedri and Gavi having bagged the accolade in successive seasons.
As alluded to above, though, this time round, it is Barca’s Clásico rivals who have seen their standout starlet deservedly recognised.
As confirmed by way of the Golden Boy social media platforms on Friday evening, Jude Bellingham has been crowned the 2023 winner.
Barcelona, though, have not been left empty-handed.
As a special recognition of his place as the youngest player to ever finish on the Golden Boy podium, Lamine Yamal, at just 16, has claimed ‘The Youngest’ award.
