Isco offered to Roma as Zaniolo replacement

Isco has offered himself to AS Roma through an intermediary as a possible replacement for wantaway forward Nicolo Zaniolo, according to Calciomercato.

The Spanish forward terminated his contract with Sevilla just four months after joining the Andalusians after falling out with the club.

Since he left the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, Isco has been in talks with several clubs over a potential move, but none have materialised.

The former Real Madrid man came closest to a surprise move to German side Union Berlin, but the transfer broke down in the last stages over his salary demands.

Isco was on a reported €1 million per year contract at Sevilla. With a series of add-ons, it could have raised his wages to just under €5m. The former Malaga man is now looking for his next club to offer him the same wages.

Turkish side Konyaspor have since contacted the 30-year-old over a possible move, with the club’s vice president Mehmet Akcan confirming the club are eyeing a shock move for the free agent.

However, AS Roma now look like a possible destination, as Isco could replace Zaniolo at Stadio Olimpico should the Italian complete his proposed move to Galatasaray.

The Turkish giants have been locked in negotiations with the Serie A side over a move for the wantaway Italian and are close to finalising a deal.

Zaniolo’s contract with Roma expires in June 2024, and the Giallorossi are keen on cashing in on the forward this month.

The player has already agreed personal terms with the Turkish giants, and his medicals have also been booked as they grow confident of sealing the deal.

Both clubs will have to iron out a transfer fee before the Turkish transfer window closes on Wednesday night.
