Inter set to reach agreement with Chelsea over Romelu Lukaku loan renewal

Inter signed Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal in the last summer transfer window of 2022. 

Now, according to what is reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter and Chelsea will meet again at the end of the 2022/23 campaign to discuss the future of the Belgian striker.

The report understands that there is already a gentlemen’s agreement which could see Lukaku remain at the Nerazzurri for another year on loan at Inter. 

While nothing is definitive at the moment, the signs from London are suggesting that the current owners of the Premier League club are unwilling to take the striker back. Moreover, they could also be open to sanctioning Lukaku’s permanent transfer to the Italian club.

As per the report, the 29-year-old appears to be a closed chapter for Chelsea. The Nerazzurri agreed to pay Chelsea €‎8 million plus €‎3 million in bonuses as part of Lukaku’s one-year loan deal.

Inter are planning to offer The Blues €‎10 million plus the player’s salary to kick start the negotiations for the marksman’s second year on loan at the Nerazzurri. However, the Italian side could include an obligation for redemption in the Belgian’s contract with an aim to attain his permanent services in the summer of 2024.
