Ahead of the Nerazzurri’s vital midweek fixture within the Champions League against Portuguese outfits Porto at the Estádio do Dragão, Inter boss Inzaghi touched upon the importance of the fixture in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.
As it stands, the former Lazio boss has been under scrutiny as the Beneamata are entering the second leg fresh off their eighth loss of the season where they were oblivious in their 2-1 defeat away from home.
Inter has continuously lacked consistency as they have failed to overcome the far inferior teams within their domestic league such as the likes of Bologna, Empoli, Sampdoria, and Monza since the start of the new year.
Inzaghi finds himself on the hot-seat and confronted with an immense amount of pressure as his side are set to face Porto on Wednesday, as well as Juventus on Sunday, a match that holds a great deal of significance within the race for a top-four spot.
While speaking to the media, as relayed by FCInternews, Inzaghi revealed his thoughts ahead of the Champions League match-up and the recent criticism he has faced across all cylinders within the media:
“This season we’ve already played in a final and numerous other important matches. We made it this far from a very difficult group, now we can reach the quarterfinals of this competition after a long time away, and so we’ll try to put in a great performance,” Inzaghi noted.
“We’ve played the first leg at the San Siro, and tomorrow we play at a stadium which has one of the most intense atmospheres in Europe,” emphasized the 46 year-old.
“We’ll try to play a match with complete focus, though. Criticism is part of our job, last season we were winter champions but then we ran into some problems. There have always been criticisms, it’s part of the game,” Inzaghi concluded.
