Florian Plettenberg (and Sport Bild) report that young German attacking prospect Deniz Zeitler is set to join TSG Hoffenheim instead of VfB Stuttgart. This directly contradicts information published by Kicker yesterday. The 18-year-old Ingolstadt striker has been heavily courted by both Bundesliga clubs.
All that seems for certain at this point is that the 3. Liga professional will continue to play in the German third division next season. At present, the Hoffenheim and Stuttgart reserve squads play in Germany’s third tier. Hoffenheim II earned promotion to the 3. Liga last season.
The two Baden-Württemberg clubs have remained active this summer in acquiring players for their second team. Stuttgart picked up German prospect Noah Darvich, who is expected to split his time between VfB and VfB II. The Sinsheimers recently signed former Hertha man Nader El-Jindaoui to kick for TSG II.
Which top flight club Zeitler shall sign new working papers for remains a total mystery at this point thanks to the fact that two of Germany’s most reliable footballing media sources are supplying totally different information. Such an occurrence is practically unheard of.
