As reported by Bild, following the contract extensions of both Alassane Pléa and Jonas Hofmann, there’s a good chance that Marcus Thuram will remain at the Bundesliga club.
The Frenchman, alongside both Ramy Bensebaini (27) and Yann Sommer (33), have entered the final year of his contract but extension talks are ongoing between all parties.
Speaking at a press conference following the announcement of Hofmann’s contract extension, sporting director Roland Virkus said: “It makes us optimistic that the boys want to follow the path we are showing them. We are in very good talks. The players know what we want, we know what the players want.”
Thuram scored a hat-trick in the DFB Pokal against SV Oberachern and scored in Gladbach’s opening Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim at the weekend, playing 180 minutes across two games.
As per Transfermarkt, Thuram missed 12 games across all competitions for Borussia Mönchengladbach with various injuries. The France international scored just three goals and created one in all competitions last season under Marco Rose.
