PSG head coach Luis Enrique has called on his players not to let up for their Coupe de France quarterfinal against fourth-tier Saint-Brieuc. The game will be held on Wednesday at Rennes’ Roazhon Park, a week before Les Parisiens’ mouth-watering Champions League RO16 first leg against Premier League leaders Liverpool. The Spaniard is expected to rotate his squad against the Brittany minnows with Matvey Safonov, Senny Mayulu and Gonçalo Ramos poised to start. “We need to dig in as we often see how the underdog can come out on top. A football team can win a game with very few attacks“, added Luis Enrique in his pre-game presser.
The PSG head coach said that the Ligue 1 leaders’ earlier Coupe de France rounds can be used as an example. “If you look at the ties against Espaly and Le Mans, we had to dig in, against Espaly in particular, so it is impossible to let up. We’ll suffer tomorrow.” Saint-Brieuc will try to achieve what will arguably be the greatest upset in Coupe de France’s history against PSG. The Griffins have previously got the better of Le Havre and Nice to the quarter-finals stage.
