Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has explained on the GiveMeSport podcast Market Madness that João Palhinha looks set to stay at Tottenham Hotspur.
“I think there’s a good chance Palhinha will stay at Tottenham in 2026. Then we’ll see if that happens through the option or if they might want to renegotiate with Bayern,” Romano said.
However, he emphasized: “It’s still too early to say anything. It’s only the beginning of October, and there are still many months until they make a decision.”
Reports suggest that the London side has a purchase option worth €30million, allowing Bayern to recoup some of the €50 million transfer fee they paid to Fulham in 2024.
The Munich management, including Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, have reportedly already signaled internally that they hope for a permanent takeover by Spurs.
For the Bavarians, a permanent sale to England would be a welcome development given Palhinha was never able to truly establish himself in Munich.
During his brief time at Säbener Straße, he remained largely a rotation player, rarely featuring beyond substitute appearances under coach Vincent Kompany.
