Dietmar Hamann believes Hansi Flick should be relieved of his duties following Germany’s shocking World Cup group stage exit.

Sky pundit and former German international Dietmar Hamann has called for Hansi Flick to be sacked as head coach after getting eliminated from the World Cup at the group stage.
“Everyone does what they want in the team. I see no reason why Flick should remain coach,” Hamann told Sky Germany.

“He has not managed to form a team, a squad that is competitive. In terms of players, we are better than at least two teams in our group. He didn’t get the cohesion right. There weren’t eleven people on the pitch who would go through fire for the Germany shirt.

“He is saying we don’t have a No. 6, a full-back and a No. 9, but he knew all that beforehand. If he thought he lacked the players and the ones he had weren’t good enough, then he shouldn’t have taken the job.

“The Mexican coach has taken responsibility and resigned, the Belgian coach is quitting. Meanwhile, our coach says he didn’t have the players. That’s when you see what responsibility means. The way he expressed himself after the elimination resembles the way the team is playing.”
