Hugo Lloris to leave Tottenham as Spurs eye David Raya

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will leave the club this summer, according to The Telegraph.

The Spurs legend has been at the club for 11 years, racking over 350 appearances since joining from Lyon for around £10 million.

Lloris will miss Tottenham’s last two games of the season, including their clash with Brentford this Saturday. He has likely played his last game for the club.

The 36-year-old had established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in football, but this campaign has been poor for him.

Lloris has underperformed for Spurs leading to questions about his future. His contract runs till 2024, but the 36-year-old will leave a year early.

Lloris reportedly already has an offer from Saudi Arabia where he can triple his wages.

Lloris, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, announced his retirement from the French national team after the 2022 World Cup. Mike Maignan replaced him as Les Bleus’ number one.

Tottenham are eyeing a move for Brentford keeper David Raya as Lloris’ replacement.

The Spaniard has recorded 11 clean sheets in 36 appearances this season. Last season, he kept eight in 24.

Tottenham have had their eyes on Raya for a while and could move for him.

However, they potentially face competition from Chelsea for Raya, who is on their radar.

They are searching for a new number one, with Kepa Arrizabalaga uninspiring and Edouard Mendy underperforming.

Brentford value Raya at £40 million and have already lined up a replacement for him. They are in advanced talks to sign Mark Flekken from Freiburg.

Freiburg sporting director Jochen Saier hinted that the keeper could leave this summer. The Bees will part with £11.3 million to activate his buy-out clause.

With Lloris absent, Fraser Forster will continue to deputise in goal for Spurs as they face Brentford this weekend. It is an opportunity for Raya to impress his potential future employers.
