Florian Plettenberg reports that Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitiké has lodged a transfer request. Ekitiké’s Bundesliga club have been informed that the French striker wishes to move to Liverpool.
Fabrice Hawkins and Foot Mercato suggest that the 23-year-old has agreed to full terms with the Reds on a six-year-contract. There should be little else standing in the way of Ekitiké’s move to the Premier League champions.
As reluctant as Ekitiké’s German club may be to let him go, the striker can easily force Eintracht’s hand with a training strike. It was via this tactic that Ekitiké’s fellow French striker Randal Kolo Muani was able to complete his switch to PSG two years ago.
It should be noted that Plettenberg does not make the claim that terms of Ekitiké’s new Liverpool contract have been finalized. This may ultimately prove immaterial at this point, however, as the Merseyside club possess the resources to close the deal.
