Hojbjerg could leave Tottenham this summer, he has changed his agent recently

Tottenham Hotspur have been entertaining to watch under Ange Postecoglou but he will need at least two or three transfer windows to sculpt the squad to his own taste. 

The loss of Harry Kane hasn’t hit them hard, with players such as Micky van de Ven and James Maddison improving the squad immensely.

Postecoglou must have developed a clear idea of who doesn’t fit in his plans. Spurs should sell fringe squad players and vacate the space for new arrivals.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said that Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could leave the club in the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old midfielder was linked with a move to several Italian clubs in the summer, but a potential deal didn’t materialise as Spurs were only willing to sell him permanently.

However, Romano says the former Bayern Munich midfielder has changed his agent, and a potential move away from the club could be on the cards.

“In recent days, the Tottenham midfielder [Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg] has signed with a new agency with USG Italy,” said Romano.

“In January, he was on the list of Juventus and Napoli but nothing happened. Tottenham always said permanent transfer or nothing.

“For Hojbjerg, we are entering the final year of his contract. Tottenham knows at this point they can sell the player or lose him as a free agent, because there are no new negotiations over a new deal.

“Keep an eye, because there will be conversations over potential summer exit.”

The Danish defensive midfielder joined from Southampton in 2020 and has made over 170 appearances for the club.

He has made six starts in the Premier League, while another 19 appearances have come from the bench this season.

Hojbjerg remains a utility player for Postecoglou and is not a guaranteed starter.

He was wanted by several clubs in Italy in recent transfer windows. Joining an Italian agency suggests he is probably considering moving to Serie A this summer.

There’s no point losing him for free, and it makes sense for Spurs to cash in on him if they receive a good offer.
