Here’s what the Werkself veteran had to say in his latest interview.
Speaking to Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Jonas Hofmann said he could have been tempted to leave this summer.
“New coach, new opportunity. I am a product of the Bundesliga and I still play for Bayer Leverkusen; one of the best clubs in Germany.
“I feel comfortable here, but under Xabi Alonso I would probably have considered a transfer,” the 33-year-old explained.
Hofmann continued and went on to discuss what he felt wrong under ex-coach Xabi Alonso last season after their 2024-23 success.
“I expect a coach to address anything he notices right away. I expect open and direct communication.
“A coach shouldn’t wait longer than two weeks to do so, because as a coach, I want the players to be in top form so that I can raise the level in training.
“Competition is always necessary, that’s clear. I would have expected a little more from the coach in that regard,” he added.
