Jonas Hofmann has confirmed that he’s not considering leaving Bayer Leverkusen following the coaching change at the club.
Bayer Leverkusen veteran Jonas Hofmann is coming off a tough season with very limited playing time.
However, after Erik ten Hag replaced Xabi Alonso as head coach, the 33-year-old is hopeful for a fresh opportunity and is not considering a summer exit.
“That’s correct, yes,” Hofmann told Kicker when asked if he’s no longer thinking about leaving.
“If, as a player, you feel that something isn’t right, that something isn’t working well, you should of course go to the coach,” he added.
“That’s what I did with Xabi. But there was also a period when we didn’t speak for several weeks. Back then, I took the first step and asked what was going on. After that, things maybe got a little better.”
Speaking about ten Hag, Hofmann said he’s “very clear in his statements and has already sought conversations.”
“From my perspective, that’s very important, especially as a new coach. You have to talk a lot with the players, get to know them – not only on the pitch, but also as a person.”
