Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente was quick to lavish praise on Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, on the back of the country’s latest outing.
Spain were of course back in action on Thursday night.
With a place in the finale of the Nations League on the line, La Roja made the trip to Stuttgart, for a showdown with Didier Deschamps’ France.
And en route to an eventual 5-4 triumph, the aforementioned Lamine played nothing short of a starring role.
From his berth on the right flank, the 17-year-old lit up proceedings, notching a crucial brace, including his first-ever converted penalty at senior level.
And one individual who could not help but be impressed by the quality showcased by Lamine was manager Luis de la Fuente.
In fact, drawn on his attacking prodigy’s latest performance post-match, Spain’s headmaster went as far as to state:
“Lamine Yamal is the best in the world. He has made a statement and deserves the Ballon d’Or.”
