Joshua Kimmich has admitted he would have liked Florian Wirtz to join Bayern Munich rather than Liverpool.
Bayern Munich did all they could to bring Florian Wirtz to the Allianz Arena, but the 22-year-old playmaker appears to have chosen Liverpool instead.
At a press conference on Monday, Germany captain and Bayern star Joshua Kimmich was asked about Wirtz’s reported decision.
“He must have his reasons for making that decision,” Kimmich said.
“I hope it turns out to be the right path for him. As a Bayern Munich player, of course, I would have liked him to join us.”
Wirtz’s move to Anfield is not finalized yet, with Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool still negotiating the transfer fee.
According to recent reports, Leverkusen have rejected Liverpool’s second offer – worth around €130 million – as they hold out for a staggering €150 million for their prized asset.
