Harry Kane moved within five goals of Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga goal-scoring record in a single season today.
The first-half penalty against Stuttgart was Kane’s 36th goal of the season for Bayern Munich.
Only Lewandowski has scored more goals in a single season, with 41 for Bayern Munich in the 2020/21 season.
It has been a difficult Bundesliga season for the Bavarian giants, who gave up their crown to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen.
But Bayern Munich’s ongoing run in the Champions League and Harry Kane’s performances on the pitch have lifted spirits in the south of Germany.
Bayern travel to Real Madrid on Wednesday for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final after a 2-2 draw.
Harry Kane will be looking to extend another record.
His 8th goal of the campaign is the most an Englishman has scored in the Champions League and Kane will be aiming for more as Bayern look finish a disappointing season on a high.
After that, Kane will have two more chances to overtake Lewandowski’s record.
First up, Bayern welcome Wolfsburg, and then they travel to Hoffenheim for the final Bundesliga game of the season.
Considering Kane has scored four goals in his last three games, it would take a brave person to bet against the English striker.
