It didn’t look good when Alex Grimaldo was stretchered off with a head injury during Bayer Leverkusen’s 2–0 win over 1. FC Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
However, Bayer Leverkusen confirmed on Monday that the injury is fortunately not serious.
After undergoing a thorough neurological examination, the 30-year-old left-back has been given the all-clear and will join up with the Spanish national team as planned.
Grimaldo has made 10 appearances for Spain, who will face Georgia and Bulgaria this month.
A key figure for Leverkusen this season, Grimaldo has scored four goals and provided two assists in nine Bundesliga appearances so far.
