Grifo reacts to West Ham defeat

Vincenzo Grifo has shared his thoughts on Freiburg’s 1-2 loss to West Ham.

SC Freiburg slipped to a defeat against West Ham in the Europa League this evening, losing 1-2 at home.


Lucas Paqueta gave the guests an early lead before Roland Sallai found the equaliser just after the break. Nayef Aguerd then scored the winner for the Hammers, heading in a free-kick in the 66th minute.

Speaking to UEFA.com after the game, Vincenzo Grifo analyzed the defeat:

“Things didn’t go too well at the beginning for us, but we fought our way back into the game, we changed our midfield approach and that helped us,” said the Italian attacker.

“Why were we not able to see it through? The way we played then cost a lot of stamina, but I was pleased with our performance there.”
