Augsburg and Freiburg are reportedly discussing a swap deal involving Michael Gregoritsch and Ermedin Demirovic.
Gregoritsch was first linked with Freiburg at the beginning of July, at which point both Sky and Kicker reported that negotiations were at an advanced stage.
Augsburger Allgemeine now suggests that Demirovic could move in the other direction as part of the deal.
The 24-year-old came in and out of the starting line-up during the 2021/22 campaign and is said to be unhappy with his playing time under Freiburg coach Christian Streich.
Gregoritsch, on the other hand, was not only a regular starter last season, but also Augsburg’s leading goalscorer with nine Bundesliga goals to his name.
Asked about the Austrian international’s situation, new Augsburg coach Enrico Maaßen said:
“We are in close exchange, have a close relationship with each other. ‘Gregerl’ is fit and having fun. I would be happy if he stayed here.”
