Mario Götze has told Sport Bild that he expects “a lot” from upcoming teammate Can Uzun.
The 19-year-old has made an impressive start to the season, registering two goals and three assists in three games for Eintracht Frankfurt so far.
Götze is full of praise for the youngster, whom he believes has the potential to go far.
“Can is top-class technically and has enormous talent. If he keeps at it, does things well, stays fit, and continues where he left off in pre-season, he has huge potential. That’s very important because we need a deep squad to compete in three competitions,” Götze said.
When asked if Uzun seeks his advice, Götze responded:
“If he wants to know something, he can, of course, ask me anytime. But I think you also have to make mistakes, make good or bad decisions yourself, and learn the right lessons for yourself.
“I was always a bit too impatient, but that probably comes with being young. You always want everything immediately. That’s a lesson I learned – that sometimes you need to give yourself a year or two,” added the 33-year-old World Cup winner and former Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich player.
