Leon Goretzka has once again spoken of his great hope of making Germany’s squad for the European Championship.
Despite being left out of Germany’s squad for the friendlies against France and the Netherlands in March, Leon Goretzka has not given up hope of being called into Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for this summer’s European Championship.
“I’ll wait and see what Julian decides. I’ve tried everything in the last few months to show my best side. In the end, it’s up to the national coach,” Goretzka told Bild, adding:
“I’ve already said that I’m always ready to talk. I always leave my mobile phone on. There hasn’t been a conversation yet. I hope there will be one. It’s my big goal and my big dream to play in a European Championship in my own country.”
Goretzka has also endured his fair share of disappointments for Bayern Munich this season.
Most recently, the midfielder watched from the bench as Bayern lost 2-1 to Real Madrid to crash out of the Champions League semifinals.
“Of course it was extremely difficult for me, but I have to accept it. It was unfortunate with all the injuries, otherwise it was planned that I would come back. It’s a shame not to be able to help the team in a game like this,” Goretzka lamented.
