Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon is set to sign a new deal with the club, according to the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old will reject advances from boyhood club Liverpool and sign a new contract with Newcastle, ending speculation regarding his future.
Liverpool were keen on signing Gordon last summer after he bagged 11 goals and ten assists in 35 Premier League appearances in 2023/24.
However, they failed to agree a deal with Newcastle despite the player being keen on the move. The Magpies want to tie him down to a new contract and are closing in on an agreement.
Gordon’s new contract will hopefully be a boost for the player, whose form has nosedived since he returned from the 2024 European Championship with England.
He looks off-pace and has struggled to beat his man, which is the staple of his game. Harvey Barnes has taken his his starting berth and delivered the goods with three goals and an assist.
Gordon may be on the bench for some time, but the new contract shows the club continues to trust him, and he will likely bounce back from this rough patch.
