After playing his last ever game at Camp Nou, Gerard Piqué spoke to LaLigaTV and answered questions from David Villa and Juan Carlos Unzué, among others.
“It’s many years and many games. In the end, it’s what you have left, the experience and the friendships,” Piqué said in words reported by Mundo Deportivo.
“I had not dreamed of an end. I never thought about leaving. You always think about one more year, you don’t think about retiring, but things happen in a certain way and you have to make a decision.
“The last six months have been very difficult. Today is a relief.
“Life goes on, and there’s still a lot of life left.”
On what he thought when leaving the pitch at Camp Nou
“I thought that that’s it, that I’ve got a weight off my shoulders. It hasn’t been an easy few months. There are good and bad days, with success and mistakes. I have given everything and that has made me proud,” he concluded.
