Gavi is making history at the age of 18 years and 98 days.
The Barcelona midfielder has become the youngest player to be called up for a World Cup with Spain, according to Spanish outlet Relevo.
Named in Luis Enrique’s 26-man squad on Friday, he surpasses Cesc Fabregas, who was called up for the first time at the age of 19 years and 10 days.
The talented midfielder is expected to form part of Luis Enrique’s 3-man engine room in Qatar later this month.
Spain start their World Cup campaign against Costa Rica on 23 November.
