After missing out on the last five matchdays, Niclas Füllkrug will make his return to the SV Werder Bremen matchday squad in time for this weekend’s match against Köln. This was confirmed by SV trainer Ole Werner at a Friday presser. A start after so long a layoff remains unlikely, but Werner did indicate that the calf problems that sidelined the 30-year-old were behind him.

“He was able to participate in everything in the last training session,” Werner note, “With him it looks much better than in the previous weeks. So he will be in the squad. Everyone who is in the squad can also be used in some form. No one is coming along as a mascot.”
