Premier League side Fulham continue in their efforts to sign one left-footed central defenders during this summer transfer window.
It is understood that Fulham have agreed a fee with Ajax for Calvin Bassey and have had a bid for Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu too. The latter individual is also a target for Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, who have had 2 proposals rebuffed for the player.
According to our colleagues at Sports Zone, the Premier League club have also been in negotiations with a third left-footed centre-back alongside talks for Bassey and Salisu. That individual is 22-year-old Brazilian defender Morato, who is currently plying his trade with Portuguese giants Benfica, having joined their academy in 2019 from São Paulo.
There is a provisional agreement over a 5-year contract between Fulham and Morato – the player’s agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, is actively pushing to make the deal happen. Benfica have already rejected two bids from the London club but expect a third proposal to arrive imminently from the Cottagers.
